Cammie
Cammie is growing up! She will be 6 months old tomorrow. Holy cow!
I will be starting her on sheep in December, but in the meantime, the sheepy toy will have to do!

Cammie update
Cammie went to the Cardigan Specialty at the Howard Country Fairgrounds yesterday - just as a spectator. She loved the whole thing! Every person was a pal and every dog was a potential playmate. It was great fun! I will take her to Cumberland next weekend for her first puppy show and we will see how it goes. I have played with her a bit on the show lead and it's definitely a work in progress.
In the meantime, she also helped me with a knitting project.

behind on blogging
I have fallen a little behind on my thrush blogging. We put medicated sole pack into Sig's hind feet, so will see how that helps over the course of a shoeing cycle.
In the meantime - where's Waldo? Cammie rolled herself up the other morning. Too funny!

Frog Experiment Day Four
Here we go. Henry was out Friday afternoon and trimmed the frogs and the pics are from Saturday. He thinks they look better than the last time he worked on Sig. After being trimmed they look much better, but you can still see that the central sulcus is deeply grooved and the tip of both hind frogs is basically absent. I started doing the fronts as well. This is after dusting with No Thrush powder, which is giving that fuzzy white look to things. Next time I will do the photos prior to applying the powder. I will not be able to do Sunday because I am helping at a horse show.

Frog Experiment Day 3
Repeat of yesterday. Henry came and trimmed up the frogs, so they look much more appealing! LOL He thinks they look better than the last time he worked on Sig, so looks like we are heading in the right direction. Plus I picked up some No Thrush at the local tack store, so will switch to that and see how it performs over the next several weeks. Sig was still a little ouchy in the outdoor footing, but worked pretty well in the indoor. Will get fresh pics tomorrow.

Frog Experiment Day 2
No photos today - Sig was still a bit touchy about having his feet scrubbed. I think the soap stings a little on the sensitive tissue. Hopefully tomorrow, we get some of the dead stuff cut away and I can get at the next layer of gunk.

Frog Experiment - Day 1
Sig's frogs are eaten up with thrush. I have been thinking about how to manage the problem and came across this series of articles Treatment of Disease in the Equine Frog. It certainly looks worth a try, so I am going to see if we can get Sig's feet in better shape. He is not exactly lame, but is a little sensitive in his hinds and sometimes feels a bit off.
I have ordered some No Thrush, but while waiting for it to arrive I decided to get started anyway.
Here are Sig's Hind Feet prior to any treatment.

This is the left hind, also picked out, but not cleaned. It looks worse than the right hind, but again, not so bad.

Here are the hinds after thorough washing. You can see that the tip of the frog is non-existent in both feet. The left frog also has huge craters and crevices. Ugh.
I washed both feet using Dr Bronners soap until the suds were white instead of brown. Then dried the feet and treated the right with Thrushbuster and the left with Listerine and will do this daily until the No Thrush arrives and I can start using that and see how that goes.

Meet Cammie!
Cammie is a Cardigan Welsh Corgi pup. She is 11 weeks old and is a pistol!
She was still living at Mommas when this was taken - about 7 weeks old.
This one was right after she got to the house. Ears not up yet. Still mighty cute!
The queen of the world.
Ears are up!

puppies!
Since I lost both Gunner and Rowdy, I have been thinking that I need a Cardi in my life again. Here's a new litter that I will go and visit as soon as they are old enough!

Saddles for Sale
I have some tack that I need to move along to a new home.
Trilogy Debbie McDonald 18.5 MW. This saddle is in great shape, barely used. It runs narrow, it fit Sig (narrow TB) fine with a Thinline fleece under it and he is a pretty narrow number. I would say it would be more like a medium. The seat is a true 18.5, but the flaps are pretty straight and with my long thigh, it just put me in a bad spot. It kills me to sell it because I really like it. Comes with Trilogy saddle cover. $2900.
County Stablizer XTR, Long Flap, 18 M. Another beautiful saddle that doesn't fit me, right. I guess I need a long forward flap, not just a long flap. It's in gorgeous shape and is so comfortable. I think this one runs pretty true to size. My friend Marie fox-hunted Sig in it last year, but since I took the ride back, it has just been sitting around, so it's got to go! $2850
Saddles are near Frederick, MD. I would rather not ship, but it's definitely an option.

It was so warm yesterday that I had to hose off Shad after our ride - he was sweating like crazy. Marie was over, getting a shoe put on her mare and told us we weren't fox hunters cuz our ride was too short! Guess we gotta work on that fitness thing.
I plied up the Corriedale singles and it looks like it's going to be a lovely two ply laceweight. I will wash it today and see how it looks. Now working on my first three ply - it's a lb of alpaca/merino and so far shaping up to look pretty nice. I am pleased. I did a bunch on it yesterday, but it's going to take several days of work.

Last night, I made my first ever wine reduction sauce. I put in 1 1/2 c of red wine, cooked it down, added some blackberry preserves, a little bit of chili powder and 3 T of butter, whisked it until smooth and served with pork chops. Yummy! Not too shabby for a first time!
And reviewed some stuff for my class. What a busy gal am I!

More pics from the watershed. It's sooo pretty there. These are actually from 3/7. I need to upload the latest and start doing this in order! It's supposed to be 80 today. Imagine we are going to start to see some big changes soon as things start greening up. I also have an audio experiment in progress. Stay tuned!
